Performance of Seismically Isolated Pile-supported Structures through 1 g Shaking Table Tests

This study fabricated friction pendulum (FP) and rolling (RP) seismic isolation systems using 3D printing to conduct 1g shaking table tests of pile-supported structure models incorporating these systems. The test results indicate that, when the FP bearing was applied pile heads, acceleration response decreased once began operate; as input earthquake frequency increased (1, 3, 10 Hz), system engaged at lower accelerations (0.16, 0.11, 0.02 g, respectively), deck significantly (15, 37, 65%, respectively) compared that in fixed head condition. Similarly, RP a higher Hz) corresponded greater decrease (82, 95, 96%, However, significant displacement observed owing resonance phenomenon natural period similar earthquake. Therefore, since applying is not desirable terms structural displacement, it appropriate apply bearing, which can avoid by changing during operation system.
